The Atlanta Regional Commission (ARC) is the regional planning and intergovernmental coordination agency that focuses on issues critical to the region’s success, including growth and development, transportation, water resources, services for older adults and workforce solutions. ARC is dedicated to unifying the region’s collective resources to prepare the metropolitan area for a prosperous future. This is done through professional planning initiatives, the provision of objective information and the involvement of the community in collaborative partnerships.

The Digital Media Specialist will be responsible for the implementation of digital strategy, content strategy, and digital outreach for ARC. This individual will leverage all current digital assets and find new and innovative solutions to ensure the success of ARC online communications objectives.


  • Administer and design the layout content, and troubleshoot technical issues on ARC’s websites;
  • Train ARC staff on the use of Content Management Systems and other digital media tools;
  • Assist ARC staff with digital strategy and the administration of ARC program websites, email marketing campaigns and social media accounts;
  • Coordinate with the Communications and Marketing group on planning and executing communications and media objectives;
  • Prepare analytic reports for ARC’s social media channels (e.g. Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Twitter, Tik Tok, Pinterest, Snap Chat, etc.);
  • Manage and update ARC’s Social Media Policy;
  • Compile, analyze and monitor content for ARC’s social media channels in partnership with the Communications and Marketing Group;
  • Prepare analytics reports for digital communications initiatives and projects;
  • Assist with the research, promotion and coordination of special events;
  • Assist in the production of graphics, video and other media assets;
  • Coordinate with vendors and ARC staff on development web or social media based projects;
  • Performs other duties as assigned to support agency goals and objectives.


  • Knowledge of Content Management Systems (CMS) concepts and experience in WordPress administration;
  • Knowledge and understanding Search Engine Optimization (SEO) and content strategy concepts;
  • Knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript;
  • Skill in Email Management Systems (experience in Active Campaign) and administering social media channels;
  • Ability to simultaneously manage multiple projects, while maintaining a firm grasp of individual project details;
  • Ability to work equally effectively in team-based environments as well as on tasks which require high levels of initiative, autonomy and independent thought and action;
  • Ability to interact, build relationships and foster open communications effectively with internal staff, the Board, the community and a broad range of active stakeholders and partners;
  • Ability to relay technical information in a non-technical way to a wide range of stakeholders;
  • Proficient in WordPress administration
  • Experience producing graphics and layouts in Photoshop and Illustrator;
  • Experience in using Google Analytics for analyzing and reporting on website traffic;
  • Ability to establish priorities and organize work across short-term projects and ongoing initiatives;
  • Ability to work independently and possess a desire to learn, overcome challenges and solve problems;
  • Ability to multi-task with attention to detail and work independently with general instructions;
  • Possess strong analytical, project management and technical skills;
  • Possess strong writing and communication skills;
  • Proficient in using Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).


  • Bachelor’s degree in public relations, communications or related field
  • One (1) year experience with digital communications, media relations, traditional public relations, and/or community engagement.

    An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above, unless otherwise subject to any other requirements set forth in law or regulation.
