POSITION SUMMARY:

The Atlanta Regional Commission (ARC) is the regional planning and intergovernmental coordination agency that focuses on issues critical to the region’s success, including growth and development, transportation, water resources, services for older adults and workforce solutions. ARC is dedicated to unifying the region’s collective resources to prepare the metropolitan area for a prosperous future. This is done through professional planning initiatives, the provision of objective information and the involvement of the community in collaborative partnerships.

The ARC Transportation Access and Mobility Group is seeking part-time, temporary support for data visualization, data analysis, and modeling project and program needs within the Center of Livable Communities.

The Data Analyst will be responsible for supporting the Transportation Access and Mobility Division’s (TAMD) Performance Analysis and Monitoring section.  This individual will perform a variety of assignments related to transportation system performance analysis and research of new tools and data for transportation analysis. 

This position requires strong technical and research skills, with the preferred candidate being knowledgeable with data analysis, visualization, and computer coding skills.

This temporary position is not eligible for benefits; working up to 29 hours per week for up to 12 months with the possibility of extension.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONISBILITIES:

  • Perform a variety of assignments related to transportation system performance analysis and research of new tools and data for transportation analysis;
  • Update web-based visualization through existing platforms such as DASH, Tableau, and/or other platforms as needed;
  • Assist with data visualization, including, creation of charts, graphs, and other visualization techniques;
  • Assistance with project management and logistics;
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support agency goals and objectives.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND COMPENTICES:

  • Knowledge of ESRI ArcGIS Desktop (ArcMap or Pro) proficiency;
  • Knowledge and understanding of new and innovative analytical tools;
  • Possess strong verbal and written communications skills;
  • Possess strong analytical, technical, and problem-solving skills;
  • Skill in ArcGIS Online and web-based technology beneficial;
  • Ability to establish priorities and organize work;
  • Ability to multi-task with attention to detail;
  • Ability to work independently with general instructions;
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, and Power Point);
  • Self-starter, enthusiastic, and able to work toward broad goals with little direct supervision.

MINUMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, economics, statistics, urban planning, computer science, information technology or related field
  • One (1) year of data collection and analysis experience and associated technical support, which may include programming

An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above, unless otherwise subject to any other requirements set forth in law or regulation.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATION:

  • Master’s degree in business, economics, statistics, urban planning, computer science, information technology or related field

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Selected candidate will be required to comply with the agency’s vaccination’s policy. You must present documentation of COVID-19 vaccination certification or be subject to testing protocols if you have a medical or religious exemption.
